DIRECTOR, BIOMASS SUPPLY

Location: Remote with some travel
Salary: Depending on experience and skillset

 

We are seeking a Director of Biomass Supply to join Graphyte’s commercial team. The Director of Biomass Supply will report to Graphyte’s Vice President, Commercial. This position will play a critical role driving Graphyte’s growth; this includes identifying biomass supply sheds for future Graphyte projects, cultivating supplier partnerships, and executing supply agreements.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Biomass supplier pipeline development: build and maintain a biomass supplier pipeline across the agriculture and timber industries to supply feedstock for Graphyte’s Carbon Casting projects 

  • Supplier engagement: develop targeted supplier recruitment strategies, prepare pitch materials, and meet with prospective suppliers to discuss collaboration opportunities 

  • Contract negotiation: negotiate and close biomass supply agreements, collaborating closely with Graphyte’s project development team

  • Expansion strategy: conduct analyses and a create a strategic roadmap to guide Graphyte’ geographic expansion into new biomass supply sheds 

  • Strategic biomass initiatives: build relationships to advance Graphyte’s strategic biomass priorities, including our work to utilize forestry residues to mitigate wildfire risks and agricultural residues to support deployment of low carbon fuels 

  • Note: this role may require travel (up to 50%) to meet with biomass suppliers at project sites and at events and conferences

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Highly motivated and deeply passionate about addressing climate change   

  • Deep knowledge of biomass industries including timber, agriculture, bioenergy, or pulp/paper 

  • 5-10 years of work experience in a relevant commercially oriented role (e.g., biomass procurement or sales) 

  • Self-starter comfortable operating in ambiguity and in a fast-paced startup environment  

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience working on commercial transactions  

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to present complex technical information clearly and concisely  

  • Experience developing PowerPoint presentations and Excel models 

  • Strong organizational, time management, project management and prioritization skills  

  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment
