CARBON CREDIT BUYER FAQs
1
WHAT IS A CARBON REMOVAL CREDIT?
Carbon credits are a financial instrument used to support projects that address climate change. Each carbon removal credit represents one metric ton (1,000 kilograms or 2,205 pounds) of carbon dioxide that has been removed from the atmosphere.
2
HOW DOES GRAPHYTE GENERATE CARBON REMOVAL CREDITS?
Graphyte generates carbon removal credits through our Carbon Casting process. We process biomass residues (such as sawdust, bark, or stalks) into carbon blocks and durably store them in an underground chamber. Learn more about our process by checking out our homepage.
3
WHERE ARE MY CARBON CREDITS BEING GENERATED?
Carbon credits will be generated from Graphyte’s Loblolly Project in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.

HOW MUCH DOES THE AVERAGE PERSON EMIT EACH YEAR?
The average consumer in the U.S. emits 20-25 metric tons of carbon dioxide each year. You can calculate your carbon footprint using online tools like the Cool Climate Calculator from UC Berkeley.

HOW CAN I USED CARBON REMOVAL CREDITS TO 'OFFSET' MY CARBON FOOTPRINT?
High quality carbon removal credits are a high impact way to address climate change. Purchasing carbon credits can complement strategies to directly reduce carbon emissions like putting solar panels on your house or driving an electric vehicle. Early carbon removal buyers will help scale an important new industry to address climate change.
