Graphyte Statement on the Introduction of the 45Q Repeal Act

Today, Graphyte CEO Barclay Rogers issued the following statement in response to the introduction of the 45Q Repeal Act:

“While lawmakers don’t always agree on climate policies, if they agree that there is a need to create and keep well-paying jobs in the U.S., then they should agree to expand the 45Q tax credit, not repeal it. Expanding 45Q to include newer technologies that capture carbon in solid and liquid form will immediately create jobs in rural America, where these newer technologies are being deployed in partnership with the farming and forestry industries.”

“And just like renewable energy tax credits helped to drive down the cost of wind and solar energy, making them the cheapest forms of electricity in the U.S., 45Q will help to drive down the costs of carbon removal technologies, establishing the United States as a leader in this emerging market. Repealing 45Q isn’t just bad for the planet, it’s bad for the economy.”
